Just picked up a few rolls from the lab that I had forgotten about.

Feels like Christmas.

Seeing the film reminded me how much I miss shooting film; sitting with

a pile of contact sheets, spending hours in a darkroom singing & dancing while prints wash.

Got the 4x5 out....inspired and ready to burn through film.

We've been hearing scurrying and scratching in between the ceiling and the roof.
Not sure of what was making so much noise.
A family of birds have quietly occupied this space for years.  

A few days ago, I hear a commotion out on the fire escape...

look up and see Squiggy the Squirrel poking his head out of the building facade.

A group of angry birds attacking him to no avail, he has clearly taken over their home.

Then yesterday, I look out and see him shivering in a corner.
Couldn't resist showing him a little love.

Gave him a little snack of bread and cherry tomatoes...watched him eat and scurry back up.

I just hope he doesn't come crashing through the ceiling into our place.

While shooting another subject, I turned to look at the make-up artist on set.
I was instantly drawn to the pronounced veins and mottled look of the skin,
shooting it was a visceral response.
It was moment of raw, self-assured sex appeal.

Memories of the Jersey Shore

I've photographed the Jersey Shore many times over the years.  It's always been 

a special place to me, my husband and I even spent our honeymoon in South Jersey.

Now the Jersey Shoreline is devastated and destroyed by the effects of super storm Sandy.

Although, it is an end of an era for those of us that grew up visiting the shore,
 I have no doubt that it will be rebuilt and restored beautifully.

A place defined by the amazing and resilient people that live there.
